Pix11  has an article about the Protest against Oholei Torah’s Abuse ofCHABAD-CSA Studentsand video coverage from the event where dozens protested the latest of exposed cover-ups of child sexual and physical abuse in a Chabad institution.  Protesters rallied tonight in front of the Chabad school, Oholei Torah and vowed to return until rabbis and staff involved in sexual and physical abuse of students have been removed from their positions.  The group was made up of survivors of child sexual abuse, former students, advocates and parents demanding the end of abuse cover-ups.  One young woman interviewed said she had been molested by a rabbi who was also a family member when she was 16 years-old.  Her case never got further than a police report due to community pressures that prevented it from going further.

Protesters cited the recent story in Newsweek on the decades of alleged abuse and cover-ups that have gone on at the school with no disciplinary measures taken against the offenders, some currently remain employed by the school.  Frum Follies has the group’s official press release of March 18, 2016 posted.

The Chabad yeshiva responded to the protest by lining up school buses along Eastern Parkway in order to block the sight of the protest from attendees gathering for an Oholei Torah fund raising event inside the school.

“I was 16 and it was the night of my brother’s bar mitzvah and my life has never been the same,” Brocha Mishulovin told PIX11. “A police report was filed, but nothing was ever pushed farther than that.”

Marc Appel, Voice of Justice founder, said that type of abuse is typical.

“This is a situation that has been going on for years,” Appel said, “where there is an accusation involving a rabbi, whether is physical or sexual abuse and it doesn’t get investigated.”

Protestors point to a Newsweek story this month detailing an alleged coverup at the yeshiva dating back to the 1990s.

One parent we spoke to going into the gala said the problems here at Oholei Torah are all in the past.

“There is no abuse going on right now,” Sheva Tauby, a parent said. “It is all in the past. My sons are 100 percent safe here,” she added.

The protesters say they will keep coming back until all the staff that has been accused of abuse have been replaced.

On Chabad’s Oholei Torah (from Wiki):

Oholei Torah (“Tents of Torah”), [properly referred to as Oholei Menachem (“Tents of Menachem”) after Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson,] is the common name of the Lubavitch schools Educational Institute Oholei Menachem and Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah. The main branches of the school, and its administrative offices, are located in Brooklyn, New York City.

Educational Institute Oholei Torah is a yeshiva for male students in Chabad-Lubavitch Movement, drawing students from around the world and providing a vast majority of the Chabad Shluchim from amongst its graduates.[citation needed] Oholei Torah’s curriculum consists solely of torah study, with a strong emphasis on the teachings of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The curriculum has been noted for its exclusion of all secular studies, such as language skills and mathematics
