JP Udates has news about the suspect who was wanted for the Brroklyn-suspectalleged attempted kidnapping of a 14 year-old Jewish girl in Brooklyn.  The man, who appeared to be an Orthodox Jew, turned himself in to police after enhanced photos were released but did not cooperate with the police detectives. Additionally, the victim chose to give up her story and not file any charges.  Further questioning of the victim revealed new details in her story.  However they have not been published.

Some Orthodox Jewish news web sites carried announcements of the attempted abduction and of the enhanced photo later released by police.  On Tuesday, the day the suspect turned himself in, some of those sites deleted their coverage of the updated photo, the original attempted kidnapping, or both.  I will be posting later about some sites that altered their coverage, with before/after screenshots of their reports.  It begs the question:  Were these Orthodox Jewish news sites attempting to cover-up the crime in order to paint a rosier view for the reputation of Orthodox Jews, or is there some other reason for the alteration of their reports.

Within a day after investigators released a clear photo of the man wanted in connection with an alleged attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old Orthodox Jewish girl last week in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, the man turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon and investigators cleared him of being a suspect, Two NYPD officials told JP.

The man, who is 17 years-old, turned himself in with his attorney to detectives at the 61th Precinct and when he was interviewed, the boy didn’t cooperate with the detectives. The girl gave up her story and didn’t want police to file charges [Ed:-bold],  the official said.

After the man turned himself into police, detectives re-interviewed the girl and she gave new details that she didn’t say originally. NYPD and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office decided not to file any charges.

[UPDATE] February 24, 2016 2:29 pm:

According to an update at Sheepshead Bites the DA’s office confirmed that the investigation was closed and charges were dropped.  Police were unable to press charges because the girl did not cooperate with investigators.
